Each Heart

May 9, 2019

White foam splashes from the watery greens
darkening the stone and wetting my eyelashes.
I am reminded of tears and taste their salt.
My mouth waters with a longing that traces back to my heart
Tendrils of moss and vine reaching,
a feathery weave,
long and wanting,
stretched and earthen.
There is an opening,
soft and tender
A space where the heart cracks
wider and deeper

I float here awhile
with you,
with me,
with all of us
one human to another
the same and unique
hurting and happy
joyful and grieving

We will gather here
all of ourselves
into the source
each heart heavy and light in our hands
each hand open and loving.
None will be left behind
and we will know we have arrived.
